West Berkshire Council are looking for a dynamic Housing Strategy, Review and Development Manager to join our Housing Service Management Team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Strategy Manager to play a key role in delivering the Councils Housing Strategy and lead a multi-disciplinary team working on housing strategy, allocations, development, rough sleeping and complaints. Youll be joining a council that invests in their staffs development so they can deliver the best service for our residents.

While the initial onboarding will entail coming into the council offices in Newbury, this role is highly flexible with the opportunity for regular remote working.


ABOUT THE JOB


As Housing Strategy, Review and Development Manager, youll provide strategic support to the Housing Service Manager, writing and developing strategies and policies.
Leading a multi-disciplinary team of 10 officers, youll provide line management to staff working in Housing Allocations, Rough Sleeping and Housing Development. A key part of your role will be ensuring the delivery of our new Rough Sleeping Initiative.
Youll also manage projects within the Housing Service and provide expert advice to residents, partners and key stakeholders. Youll be required to think strategically, keeping both the Councils Corporate and Housing Vision in mind.


ABOUT YOU


Youll have excellent knowledge of Housing Law and Practice, with strong experience of managing a multi-disciplinary team.
Good communication, people and negotiation skills are a must as you will be working collaboratively with strategic partners and presenting policies and changes in strategy.
Additionally, youll play a key role in our Affordable Housing Programme, so you will need to hold a degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as Housing Development. A project management or equivalent qualification is also essential, as you will be managing teams in different disciplines and complex projects across the Housing Service.
