Job summary
Job Title: Environmental ManagerDepartment: Business Support
Reporting To: Head of Business Support / Health and Safety Manager
Key Working Relationships (Internal and External): Head of Business Support, Health and Safety Manager, Health and Safety Assistant, Director, Contract Managers, Engineer Supervisors, Engineers.
Location: Head Office and Clients Sites.
* Manage the companys waste stream and disposal, ensuring compliance with legislation.
* Maintain current, and implement new, systems for monitoring waste disposal.
* Manage and retain waste transfer notes.
* Develop and follow a waste management strategy and plan.
* Minimise waste generation and reduce waste disposal costs, whilst maintaining compliance with environmental regulations.
* Maintaining management systems, notably ISO 14001.
* Assisting with relevant accreditations, where necessary, and providing the relevant evidence as required.
* Conduct frequent environmental inspections and checks, completing spot check site visits as necessary.
* Calculate and measure our carbon output, using results to set science based and net zero targets.
* Conducting research and analysis on topics such as environmental impact, pollution prevention techniques, and government regulations related to environmental issues.
* Conducting site inspections to identify environmental hazards and make recommendations for corrective action.
* Provide guidance and advice to management and employees.
* Assess competence and training requirements.
* Developing policies, procedures, and guidelines for department operations.
* Inspecting facilities that may pose a risk to public health or the environment.
* Preparing reports, maps, charts, and other documentation detailing findings from inspections or research projects.
* Investigating complaints about potential environmental violations and conducting follow-up audits to ensure compliance with established guidelines.
* Keep up to date with any legislative changes and ensure the business is compliant.
