Here at GSL Education we are looking for a dynamic and adaptable Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant(s) that will be able to support students / young adults on a long-term basis at Specialist settings in the city of Plymouth.
You will work with secondary aged students within the multiple GSL client schools to support them on a 1:1 basis and within classes to improve their behaviour choices and outcome. You will be a support and encourage within academic lessons and will also assist in lots of other learning sessions. Your days will always be varied and never boring!
Position and Duties: In the capacity of an SEN Teaching Assistant, your role is crucial in supporting pupils with exceptional educational needs and challenging behaviours. Your responsibilities encompass the following:
Tailored Assistance: Offering personalised support to students, aiding them in overcoming the unique challenges associated with their primary autism diagnosis and complex requirements.
Collaboration: Collaborating with educators, therapists, and other professionals to establish an inclusive learning environment that caters to the distinct needs of each student.
Customised Educational Plans: Implementing individualised educational programs and strategies to assist students in reaching their full potential and achieving developmental milestones.
Social and Emotional Growth: Cultivating and fostering social connections, communication, and emotional development, recognising these as crucial aspects of growth for these pupils.
Personal Well-Being: Providing assistance to students with personal care to ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
Progress Tracking: Involves observing and reporting on students' progress, actively participating in their developmental journey.
Qualifications:
Care and Support Experience: Preference given to candidates with a background in care and support work.
Passion for Education: A sincere interest in education and a commitment to witnessing children thrive.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent abilities in interpersonal communication.
Empathy and Patience: Necessary qualities to engage effectively with students overcoming a variety of obstacles.
Proactive and Adaptable Approach: A strategy that is proactive and adaptable, demonstrating the ability to navigate changing circumstances.
School Experience: While beneficial, school experience is not mandatory but would be advantageous.
An Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
