Job summary
Our well established Manufacturing client based in halifax are looking for a qualified Lab Technician/Chemist to work closely with marketing, suppliers and production teams managing development projects from initial concept to final approval and production into the marketplace.THE ROLE:
* Plan own experiments and project work.
* Scale up own formulations.
* Supervise production batches when required.
* Screen new raw materials from suppliers and tests them in existing formulations.
* Liaise closely with sales and production teams to update and be updated with any formulation changes or requirements.
* Produce weekly reports on current projects and raw material testing.
* Responsible for ordering lab consumables.
* Quality control of in production batches when required.
* Maintain awareness and keep updated with any changes that would affect the Company.
* To actively encourage safe working practices in the work environment in order to ensure that the companys health and safety standards are achieved
THE CANDIDATE:
* Is self driven and has perseverance.
* Proactive & good at problem solving.
* Has good attention to detail with a methodical and logical approach.
* Has the initiative to and is willing to take ownership of their own projects.
* Ability to work on multiple projects and issues simultaneously to meet deadlines.
* Must be computer literate.
* Must have excellent communication skills, be able to work well as part of a team and independently.
* Results oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
* Must be qualified to degree level in Chemistry ideally polymer based.
* Knowledge of specifications, regulations and technical writing would be advantageous
* Previous industry experience desirable.
