Job summary
My client based in Ulverston is looking for a Test ManagerJob Summary:
The duties within the Test and Inspection department are best categorised in work definitions and assigned to the various Job Titles.
Responsibilities:
Goods Receipt Inspection:
(a) Check paint/fabrication of bought out panels to works instruction and relevant engineering drawings.
(b) Check contact positions of switches to special order documentation and sketches.
(c) Check bought out mimic panels for dimension and layout to relevant drawings.
(d) Checking of any specialist bought out equipment.
Mechanical Inspection:
(a) Check tightness of fixings on assembled items.
(b) Check layout of equipment to relevant engineering drawings and parts list.
(c) Check fitting of labels to relevant engineering drawings and diagrams.
Electrical Inspection
(a) Point to point wire check. Checking position, number and colour of connections.
(b) Check contact position of switches.
Check colour, rating and fitment of fuse/links.
Check correct relays and instruments are fitted.
Check tightness of connections and security of wiring.
(c) Insulation checks of wiring using 500V meggers and 0 5kV insulation testers.
(d) High voltage insulation tests on pilot wire protection circuits up to 15kV.
(e) High voltage insulation tests on bushing type insulators and outdoor circuit breakers using 0 100kV insulation tester.
Function Testing
(a) Testing operation of relays/instruments using secondary injection test sets, voltage sources and measuring instruments.
(b) Testing contact operation of relays using simulators and continuity tester.
(c) Checking/testing functionality of circuits using schematic diagrams.
(d) Programming of relays to supplied documentation or schematic diagrams.
Contacts:
(a) Reporting to the Operations Manager.
(b) Liaise with all other departments to complete the job.
(c) Liaise with suppliers.
(d) Liaise with customers/demonstration of functional testing and factory acceptance tests.
Documentation:
(a) Raising test documentation. (Product inspection progress/fault sheets and standard test specification).
(b) Raising goods return documentation for rejected products.
(c) Raising warehouse acceptance documentation.
(d) Checking correct drawings are issued to works instruction and correct testing procedure is carried out.
(e) Raising test certification.
(f) Raising special test documentation.
Responsibilities:
(a) Responsible to the Operations Director.
(b) Responsible for supervision of the Inspection department.
(c) Responsible for calibration of instruments and special tools.
(d) Responsible for the health and safety of supervised staff and client inspectors.
(e) Responsible for the identification and purchase of tools and instruments.
(f) Responsible for QA documentation
(g) Responsible for ensuring jobs meet programme target dates.
Other Duties:
(a) Maintenance of batteries and test equipment.
(b) Design and manufacture of specialist test equipment.
(c) Working on site testing/commissioning of the clients products.
(d) Other duties required, dependent on capabilities.
(e) To assist with induction of new staff within the department.
