About the Role
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for ensuring that materials required for construction projects are provided to schedule and according to projected budgets. The buying department plays a vital role in the profitability of contracts. Although not an exhaustive list, your duties will include:
The main elements of the role are:
Placing orders for plant and equipment from procurement schedules and site requests;
Placing of global material orders from tender information;
Feedback of information to the estimating department;
Sourcing of new or alternative materials;
Producing supplier tender comparisons;
Producing project cost/value reports;
Sending enquiries and chasing quotes;
Arranging transfer of material/plant between sites and head office when necessary;
Attending contract handover meetings;
Attending contract coordination meetings;
Opening accounts with new suppliers;
Meeting with suppliers' representatives to negotiate prices and build rapport;
Instigating and finalising Supplier Performance Reviews
Close out of supplier related NCRs

About the Candidate
You will come from a specialist industrial roofing contractor and have at least two years of experience as a buyer in the industry.
The successful candidate will be able to thrive and develop in a demanding role. You will be a proactive and enthusiastic member of the team and have impeccable communication skills as this role will involve extensive communication with site personnel, clients, and suppliers
