Job summary
We are an international manufacturing company who offer our clients a range of installation, repair and maintenance services. We are long established and due to retirement, are seeking a Field Service Engineer to cover the North East of the UK and parts of Scotland. We can offer a company vehicle and equipment with job stability and the chance to join a successful and well established international company. The role would suit candidates who have a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification plus plant maintenance and fault finding experience ideally gained form a Service Engineer role either field based or on site. Ideally you will have held similar roles as a multi-skilled service engineer, working in an industrial environment with various types of instrumentation and controls, delivering a high level of service and technical ability.The main purpose of the role is to undertake installation, commissioning, servicing, calibration, fault finding and repair or replacement of components and equipment on all contracts and specialist projects allotted to him.
To actively promote the companys products and services, feeding back sales leads to the office. To always maintain and project a high-quality Company image and to confirm to the levels of integrity necessary when working in the customers premises.
To carry out routine maintenance of equipment and systems included in the periodic service contracts allotted to him efficiently and cost effectively. To use initiative to resolve technical and application problems on site with minimum disruption to the client.
To develop skills and knowledge beyond his basic trade and to service and repair equipment which falls within the scope of the job as directed by the Service Manager and for which training has or is being given as necessary.
To have a good knowledge of administrative procedures associated with the job and to ensure that all reports and paperwork are completed and submitted on time.
To requisition spares and replacement parts from the office/stores and to maintain stock in accordance with Company procedures.
To acquire a working knowledge in the use of specialist test equipment relating to the job, and to keep secure and in good working order all Company equipment allocated to him.
Where appropriate, and as approved by the Service Manager, assist with the formal on-site training of Trainees. To provide technical expertise in resolving site problems as and when required.
To attend training courses as directed by the Service Manager.
To be successful you should have the below skills and experience:-
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification.
Plant maintenance/fault finding experience.
Able to work on own with minimal supervision.
General computer literacy, including Microsoft Office packages.
Full UK driving licence.
Able to travel to client sites in the North East of the UK and Scotland and be happy with occasional travel elsewhere in the UK or overseas on an adhoc basis.
If you have any of the below skills and experience it is an advantage but not essential:-
Electro-mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent
ONC or HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or similar
Strong electrical skills and experience
Experience with industrial instrumentation
Experience with Steam Boilers
Previous relative experience as a mobile service engineer
IEE wiring regulations 18th Edition
ECITB approved Health & Safety Passport holder
Boiler Operator Accreditation Scheme holder
PLC familiarisation (or MODBUS, DCS or SCADA experience also useful)
