Technical Author Essex £35,000 - £45,000 Circa + BenefitsUnknown recruitment is seeking a Technical Author to join our R&D Engineering client based in Brentwood. This is an exciting permanent opportunity to work on future Powertrain technology development projects.
Technical Author Responsibilities:
Documentation Creation: Develop high-quality technical documentation, including owner's manuals, installation guides, and maintenance instructions, for our hydrogen dual fuel systems.
Collaboration: Collaborate closely with engineers, product owners, and other subject matter experts to gather information and understand the systems thoroughly.
Content Research: Research and stay up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure accuracy and compliance in the documentation.
Document Planning: Plan and organise documentation projects, outlining content structure, and creating schedules to meet project deadlines.
Visual Aids: Work with graphic designers and technical illustrators to incorporate visuals, diagrams, and illustrations to enhance the clarity and comprehensibility of documentation.
Review and Editing: Review and edit existing documentation and provide clear, concise, and user-friendly content while maintaining technical accuracy.
User Feedback Integration: Collect and integrate user feedback to continuously improve documentation and user guides.
Version Control: Maintain version control for documentation to ensure that the most current and accurate information is available.
Compliance: Ensure that documentation complies with safety, regulatory, and industry standards relevant to hydrogen dual fuel systems.
Documentation Localisation: Collaborate with localisation teams to adapt documentation for global markets and non-English-speaking users.
Represent company in a professional manner in all interactions.
Working on other projects and tasks as and when required.
Technical Author Requirements:
Bachelors degree in engineering, or other STEM based subject alternatively English or Journalism combined with a Masters in technical writing or hold an ISTC accredited qualification. with a related field.
Or 2-3 years relevant experience as a technical writer, preferably in the automotive, industrial, or marine industry, a focus on owner's manuals, installation guides, and maintenance instructions is preferred and highly valued.
Familiarity with hydrogen dual fuel systems, alternative fuels, or related technical fields is a plus. Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts.
Exceptional writing and communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and understandably for a non-technical audience.
Proficiency in using documentation tools, such as Microsoft Word, Adobe FrameMaker, or other relevant software.
Project Management: Strong organisational skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail and accuracy to ensure the quality of the documentation.
Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work independently or collaboratively as needed.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts.
Willingness to stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in technical writing and documentation.
Must be self-motivated with excellent follow-through.
Ability to travel for 20% of the time. There will be a need to work at times in different locations in Europe based on project needs
