Job Role: Main Works ManagerLocation: Batley
Shift: Days regular
Salary: £40,000 Per Annum
Metalis is currently working with a prestigious manufacturing company who are based in Batley, who are involved in the manufacturing of Structural steelwork, modules, architectural metalwork etc. The company are looking to hire Main Works Manager, with a 12-week probationary period before fully permanent.
Planning and carrying out daily site visits across numerous locations throughout the UK. Ensure projects are completed on time, on budget to the highest degree of customer satisfaction. Working closely with contracts managers to achieve this goal.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Health & Safety
Organise general housekeeping in workshop and the yard, keeping Health & Safety a priority, to ensure all employees are working safely at all times.
Embed Health & Safety into the culture of the company, within the working environment alongside the Quality Assurance Supervisor.
Conduct regular toolbox talks to ensure Health & Safety is to the highest standard possible, enforcing the correct use of P.P.E. and safe systems of work.
Ensure all employees have the relevant training to use specific machinery using internal RAMS.
Ensure all employees have the relevant training to carry out job specific tasks
Perform machine checks & maintenance, delegate general housekeeping to the team working alongside the Quality Assurance Supervisor.
Record machinery faults, repair in house where possible, alternatively organise repairs with external source liaising with the Quality Assurance Supervisor.
Record any accidents in the Accident Book, reporting any Major accidents to the Production Director for further investigation.
Promote 'tidy as we go' policy.Production
Regular daily checks on job progress, recorded on time sheets to ensure projects are meeting production targets.
Management of workshop resources, allocate labour to ensure jobs are finished on time, having hands on approach if necessary.
Arrange overtime when necessary whilst keeping projects on budgeted hours liaising with Production Director.
Manage & update production liaising with the Production Director daily to ensure the production board is kept up to date.
Arrange & organise transport for additional processes as per job handover pack, liaising with Small Works Foreman & Production Director.Quality
Checking quality & standard of work & working procedures to ensure quality and efficiency, liaising with Quality Assurance Supervisor.HR & Employee Development
Mentor and up-skill employees to add value to the team.
Monitor performance of individuals liaising with QA and reporting to Production Director
Authorise holidays (Original to be passed to Senior Accounts Administrator to input on the holiday chart and file. A copy will be passed to you for your records for you to give to the individual employee for their personal records)
Enforce and monitor rules regarding rules on Gross Misconduct (section 7 of the employee handbook) reporting to Director(s) for further action.
Liaise with Directors to enforce disciplinary action and record, as necessary.General
Delegate stock to be moved to relevant place in accordance to the storing process (Include Plate & Flat)
Manage the 'Cage'; stock returns/handing out tools/bolt allocation.
Stock control & updating of stock list.
Ensure stock of consumables is monitored on a weekly basis to ensure no shortfall.
Order consumables/services on Sage, PO must be given to supplier before order is placed with a PO number given to suppliers.
Check deliveries against purchase orders to highlight any problems or shortages that may slow down production.
Highlight issues as and when they become apparent i.e., contact stockholders with any shortages or damaged stock asap for planning purposes.
Liaise with Production Director to arrange Transport to site.
Supply relevant paperwork for all deliveries and collections with PO & full list of parts.
Ensure department is accurately recording hours to enable the correct time is allocated to each job.
Distribution & Collection of timesheets, final check before handing to Administration Assistant before 9am on Mondays.
Control waste management, arrange collections when necessary.
Responsibility within your department for the implementation of ISO 9001:2008 working with the Business Development Manager and Process Improvement Team.
Responsibility for complying with ISO 9001 practices and procedures, encouraging the employees that you are responsible for.
All correspondence between departments must use emails when and where possible to ensure clear communication.
Work hours as necessary to ensure projects go out on time, must be in attendance whilst employees are working on the shop floor. (If unavailable arrange with Production Director for another supervisor.)This list is not exhaustive, and all reasonable requests should be met.
