Job summary
Recruit Central are recruiting for a Senior Engineer Metallurgist based in Peterborough. Role will provide support nationally and globally, have ability to support those bigger projects. Every day is a new challenge and very diverse. The role will provide insights to both internal and external audiences. Our client is currently looking for someone with a metallurgist background from wide of different industries, Automotive and Manufacturing.Job Responsibilities & Duties:
As a metallurgical / materials engineer, you will partner with and provide technical guidance to other teams. You will have an ability to gather relevant information, compare & contrast data, identify relationships, and predict and identify failures. Decisions may affect the work group or project team, suppliers, multiple units, and both internal and external customers, and these decisions have significant impact on warranty, total cost of non-quality, customer perception, costs, sales, and the leveraging of technology.
You will provide materials engineering support to all of their UK facilities being involved in investigating a wide range of different materials in multiple applications.
Resolving issues regarding the design or manufacturing. Ensuring design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.
Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement.
Planning and improving testing procedures and operations to make the test more reliable, efficient, and cost-effective.
Monitoring results, machine and process capabilities and performance reliability.
Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
Materials Science/Metallurgy degree and/or substantive practical working experience within a materials laboratory environment
Metallurgical / materials evaluation of new products, processes and or systems
Engaging communicator; Able to convey technical assessments and results to both technical and non-technical colleagues
Providing technical guidance on product and process maintenance
Ability to Identify metallurgical / materials manufacturing defects and make process improvement recommendations
Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
Experience of working in an ISO17025 Accredited Laboratory
Deep Experience of general metallurgy
Experience of non-metallics testing
Experience of fluids testing / Chemistry knowledge
Core working hours: Monday to Thursday- 8:30am-4:45pm
Friday- 8:30am-4:30pm. The manager is flexible with start and finish time, this is be spoken about in the interview stage.
Morning meeting at 8:30am everyday.
