Cranswick Convenience Foods is one of the largest cooked meat processors in the UK, supplying multiple customers, the food service sector, and further processors.
An opportunity has arisen for an Engineer to join our Milton Keynes site. Engineering work is defined as any installation, maintenance or repair work conducted in the production areas or on production equipment, or on any equipment on the company premises. It includes mechanical, civil, electrical, plumbing, ventilation, and refrigeration engineering.
Working in the High-Risk section, you will provide an effective electrical / mechanical service to Cranswick Milton Keynes factory equipment.
Key Accountabilities:
* Ensure all activities are carried out within company and legislative health and safety guidelines, highlighting possible areas of improvement to the Engineering Shift Manager.
* Make a quick and effective response to breakdowns in more than one area on site, where possible identifying root cause and suggesting possible improvements to prevent further breakdowns occurring.
* Record and share best practice with all members of the department through toolbox talks.
* Communicate unscheduled breakdowns to the Engineering Shift Manager and work with the operations department to minimise department disruption.
* Ensure Engineering maintenance carried out in line with the schedule and effective and efficient corrective action is taken; conduct quality control checks and assure the standard of work when completed meets the appropriate technical specifications (SLA) or site requirements (PMs etc).
* Follow Engineering standards and site hygiene practices for the department to ensure that all work is undertaken with Food Safety in mind.
* Monitor and adjust process equipment to optimise performance in accordance with production requirements and to meet quality assurance standards.
* Carry out minor modifications to process equipment as directed and assists in installing new equipment as appropriate.
* Maintain high standards across workshops, toolboxes and associated engineering areas.
* Identify spare parts, equipment and materials required so as to minimise downtime.
* Demonstrate basic problem solving techniques to identify root cause of issues.
* Raise Stock and Non-Stock requests.
* Undertake minor site alterations and installs to the required standard (for example: IEE Wiring Regulations 18th Edition BS 7671:2022).
* Liaise with Shift manager/ Manager/ Engineering Department with regards to any serious Engineering issues.
* Record all work on CMMS (Pirana) undertaken in line with department and statutory requirements ensuring a hygiene hand-back is always completed.
* Supervise / manage contractors when required.
* Any other task as reasonably requested by their line manager.
Skills/Qualifications/Experience:
* Time served/Qualified Engineer or equivalent
* Electrical fault finding and mechanical fitting experience
* Pneumatic and hydraulic experience
* 18th edition qualified.
* Automation and controls experience
* Can mentor and develop others within their department
