We are a leading manufacturing company focused on delivering high-quality products and services. We are currently seeking a meticulous and experienced Quality Engineer to join our team in Aylesbury. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with industry standards, maintaining product quality, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within our manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Apply knowledge and practical application of industry standards such as ASME, PED, Norsok, NACE, ABS, DNV, and related bodies to the manufacture of company products.
* Assist with on-site and off-site customer inspections and visits as required.
* Perform compliance inspections for incoming and outgoing goods.
* Assess client inquiries, identifying the need for engineering support.
* Control and document the execution of examinations and tests as required by legislation, manufacturing codes, or client specifications to ensure product quality and safety.
* Conduct 'stage' and 'final' inspections based on company drawings and specification requirements.
* Prepare quality documentation required by the company and clients to ensure compliance with purchasing specifications.
* Drive the identification of root causes for internal and external quality issues/complaints.
* Monitor and communicate all quality issues to suppliers through the Non-Conformance Procedure (NCP) and implement corrective and preventive actions.
* Monthly reporting on supplier performance and improvement actions.
* Act as a liaison with suppliers regarding design or manufacturing problems/queries.
* Assist in streamlining manufacturing and associated techniques to reduce time and costs.
* Support the calibration of pressure gauges.
* Participate in the inspection and quality control process within company stores, production areas, and with suppliers.
* Undertake any other reasonable activities or assigned tasks delegated by senior management.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Strong engineering background with the ability to read engineering drawings.
* Proven understanding of industry safety standards.
* Experience in problem-solving methods and practices.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficiency in using an ERP system.
* Ability to issue clear instructions and influence change.
* Flexibility to travel, sometimes at short notice.
* Desirable: Knowledge of welding and Lean Six Sigma (yellow or green belt).
