About the role:
Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading turnkey engineering contractor, designing, installing, operating and maintaining environmentally friendly energy generating systems and networks, to recruit a Senior Mechanical Designer for its Lancashire based office.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role comes with a salary of up to £60,000 DOE, 33 days holiday + Bank Holiday's and flexible working.

Responsibilities and duties:
Lead the design of distributed energy schemes, energy centres, District Heating networks up to the point of heat delivery
Rectify design issues to minimise impact on plant performance
Design systems in the form of schematics, calculations, equipment selection, detailed drawings and BMS control strategies
Liaise with internal and external designers, customers and in-house project teams
Conduct HAZOP Studies, Risk Assessments, DSEAR assessments, and DESOPs
Provide an understanding of current Building Regulations, industry guidance such as CIBSE, BSRIA, and all pertinent legislation
Advise with specifying the mechanical aspects for tendering works
Conduct site inspection reports and provide technical support during construction
Develop commissioning plans and oversee commissioning activities with internal and external commissioning engineers.

Professional qualifications:
We are looking for someone with the following:
Degree qualified
Chartered status (desirable)

Personal skills:
The Senior Design Mechanical Engineer role would suit someone who:
5-7 years' experience within a design environment
Sound understanding of design principles including heating/cooling distribution, boiler/CHP systems, ventilation systems, flue systems, general HVAC / building services engineering, with steam system design principles being advantageous but not essential.
An understanding of National Design Specifications (NES/NBS) and competent in AutoCAD (2D)
