Salary: £28,560 per annum
Location: Rotherham
Working pattern: 40 hours between Monday to Sunday (including some evening work). This role is full time.
The role:
Bringing solid catering know how and a lead by example approach, you will be pivotal in developing a new catering offer and dining experience (approx 50+ cover cafe), including recruiting your own team, for this nationally significant arts organisation.
Deliver an exciting, engaging story-themed menu/offer that meets the strategic and financial aims.
Ensure high quality, creative dining experiences for all, lead by example in customer welcome and engagement.
Recruit, manage and support a kitchen and front of house team to design and deliver a wholesome, tasty catering offer that has story creation and sharing at the heart of it and serves the community.
Set challenging objectives and actions around the equity, inclusivity and relevance of our catering provision to ensure that our client is fit for purpose and engages communities.
Oversee food hygiene and health and safety across the catering offer.
Proactively seek feedback and use this to develop and improve the offer for a range of audiences, stakeholders and communities to tell their story and share our experiences with others.
Support with fundraising to ensure the continuity of the provision.
Maintain stock and budget management.
Work closely with the retail and creative team to maximise commercial opportunities that directly support the finances and ethos.
Support the wider team, as and when required, with any other reasonable duties in the successful delivery of aims and objectives.
The successful candidate:
Essential qualifications and experience:
Experience of managing a catering team, kitchen and front of house, including the ability to motivate and support, Leading by example.
All aspects of kitchen management ordering, maintaining high standards of hygiene, food safety, health & safety.
Able to step into any role within the café including hot & cold food preparation and front of house service including working on till & preparing Barista coffees.
Ensuring consistency of food service and standards. Menu development including planning & costing.
Budget and P&L management experience.
Good cooking and baking are essential skills.
Experience gained in a leadership role in a busy café or restaurant environment preferred.
Actively working to embed equality, equity, diversity, and inclusion in your practice.
Excellent organisational, administrative, and digital literacy skills.
Ability to prioritise workloads and delegate tasks accordingly. Experience of working on multiple projects, to deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable experience:
Experience designing and developing menus.
Event catering experience.
New start-up/project management experience in café or restaurant setting.
Personal licence holder.
A valid UK driving licence.
Must be used to a busy working environment and able to cope with the demands of the peaks & troughs.
