Job summary
The OpportunityAn opportunity has arisen - with one of our key vendor clients - for an experienced Design Engineer.
The successful applicant will work closely with the UK based Product Management and Sales Team alongside their American Engineering team to help develop and grow strategic key market areas. The role includes travel and site visits, and you should be able to attend international and domestic trade shows from time to time.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
Produce product designs, manufacturing methodologies, costings, and documents in accordance with industry and group standards and requirements.
Collaborate with and support Sales and Product Management to understand the customer requirements/needs to find solutions utilising standard/existing products where possible.
Manage technical and sales projects on and off site.
To assist Sales, Product Management and Marketing with engineering technical support and training.
To create and maintain records within the Companys engineering policies in the ERP system
Based in North London/Herts the role will include some travel but ideally you will be based within an hour of the office as well as being able to work from home dependent upon the needs of the business. Salary circa £50k doe plus bonuses and benefits.

The role would be suited to a self-motivated individual with a creative flair and a can-do attitude. You should enjoy meeting new people and developing sustainable working relationships. Project management skills and attention to details are essential for this role as you will often be required to multitask in a busy environment.
Upon successfully completing your probationary period and in-house training there will be scope for remote working on occasion. Remote working is dependent on the needs of the business and the successful candidate should be willing to commute to the office/installation-site regularly.
The successful candidate will also be:
Personable with a high degree of self-motivation, capable of communicating (written and oral) and influencing at all levels, in any environment
Strong problem-solving skills, motivated with the ability to work as part of a team and own initiative (keen to get hands on).
Able to organise yourself and your workload effectively. Be able to balance short term projects alongside longer term objectives.
A flexible can-do approach that is adaptable and open to change
High skill level of Solidworks is essential including FEA
Understanding and experience of rendering packages (such as Solidworks or Keyshot)
Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes and methods
Knowledge of CE, UL, ISO 9001/2000 standards
The ability to increase efficiency and performance through well designed products and processes
5+ years in a Mechanical Design Engineer Role (experience with sheet metal, plastics and AV installations would be a distinct advantage)
5+ years in the AV Industry
Project Management
Degree qualification grade 2:1 or above achieved (or equivalent) in Mechanical Design Engineering
Excellent CAD Skills
Proficient in MS Office Suite
Required - Full driving licence
