Job summary

Business Development Manager - covering the North west (Warrington) and Yorkshire (Leeds) branches - Salary 40,000 - 45,000 K plus car allowance depending on experience.

We are in search for an experienced Business Development Manager to work between North west Warrington and Leeds Branches for a national Painting and maintenance Contractor, ideally Location to be living in and around the M62 corridor, Rochdale, Heywood, Huddersfield, Oldham areas to give easy access to both branches.

Business Development Manager (BDM)

Branch/Branches that you are assigned to North west (Warrington) Leeds Branches

Reporting to Head of Sales

Responsible for No direct line reports

Specific duties and responsibilities of the role

Your main responsibilities as a BDM are to generate enough volume & value of enquiries to
ensure your branch/branches achieve turnover target. This should be made up of both targeting
new business and account managing existing clients. As a BDM you need to fully understand how
the branch is tracking vs these targets and put in place any action plans to mitigate gaps vs target.

As the BDM, you must develop relationships with key clients ensuring regular contact whilst
ensuring sufficient time is spent targeting new business.

The above should be carried out accurately using the ERP system and working closely with your

Branch Manager (BM) in the context of the Business and Sales Strategy with any opportunities
that sit outside of this reported to Head of Sales.

In addition to your main responsibilities there is a number of daily/weekly & monthly tasks that
are required as follows:

Target/Secure new business in line with Sales strategy set by the Sales Director.

Account manage key clients to develop and grow the business.

Build and maintain relationships by keeping in regular contact with key clients.

Where agreed provide client entertainment; Lunch, dinner, events etc as agreed by Head
of Sales.

Use ERP system daily to plan calls/follow ups and to log information such as opportunities
and quotes. You are expected to ensure accuracy of your own ERP.

Complete a Monthly Sales Report including a branch review with your BM.

Create and manage a scorecard covering key priorities for each branch.

Support the bid team as a priority if/when required to ensure bids submitted in a timely
manner.

Provide Social Media input to the Digital Marketing Co-ordinator.

Complete Job reviews.

Send a weekly email to your BM regarding overdue and up and coming enquiries.

Chase outstanding opportunities and police opportunity accuracy daily.

Attend events as agreed by Head of Sales.

Ensure we submit quotations in a timely fashion ensuring clients communicated to.

Work with BMs on client info requests, complaints and queries.

Plan your Outlook Calendar a min 2 weeks in advance.

Work with your BM and CEC to target key clients.

Build relationships with supply chain partners as instructed such as Dulux, Crown, PPG etc.

Look after and maintain your company car in line with our transport guidelines.

Liaise with your Line Manager and IT Team to understand and undertake required training
in our Core Dynamics Central IT system and other software pertaining to your role

Applications which come under your remit may include: Evision (relevant modules, esp

CRM), Qlik Reporting, Bid Team Database, Share-point. This is not an exhaustive list and is
dependent on the clients and work-streams within your portfolio and region(s)

Where applicable, you are required to have an understanding of the integration with

Client IT systems, to ensure effective your knowledge is aligned with the operational staff
mobilising and managing those projects.

Within Evision, your daily tasks include:

Creating contacts

Log the opportunity through the sales cycle

Assign core dimensions (type of work, sector etc)

Liaise with your branch team and QS to ascertain that the job and client details are correct
at set up of the job

Issue quote with headed letter and T&Cs

Set-up new Customers / correct invoicing details / Amend any customer details

Set up new Jobs in EVision

The specific duties and responsibilities identified above capture the key elements of the role. You

Ideally has experience in developing both new business and account management.

Ideally has experience in managing multiple clients.

Ideally has experience in selling services to: Local Authorities, Housing Associations,

Education, Health, Commercial and Retail & Leisure Sectors.

Full UK Driving Licence.

Qualifications required to undertake the role

There are no mandatory qualifications required to do this role however any business, sales or
marketing related qualifications would be beneficial.

Any sales experience involving services and multiple clients would also be preferred.

Experience in account management and generating new business would be desirable.

Other requirements

It is expected that you will maintain an appropriate standard of dress and personal appearance at
work promoting a professional and positive image of the Company.

In terms of guidelines, given the nature of your role, it would be appropriate to wear the
following:

Formal work attire such as a Suit/work appropriate dress/work appropriate skirt, formal
shirt/smart jumper and optional tie depending on the style of client. Shoes should be
polished and clean.

Business smart: Trousers/work appropriate skirt/work appropriate dress, open neck
shirt/Smart jumper, blazer. Shoes should be polished and clean.

No casual clothes such as jogging trousers, trainers, jeans, t shirts, football colours to be
worn.

Hair/facial hair to be presented in a professional manner.

Communication

Good communication is a fundamental element of the role to ensure the efficient transfer of
information. Good communication will ensure that information is shared timely which will result
in more effective working practices. This includes communication with anyone that you may come
into contact with such as your colleagues, line manager, clients and suppliers.

Effective communication will also ensure that your message is delivered clearly, concisely and
accurately.

Respect

It is expected that you will work professionally in undertaking your duties and treat your
colleagues with respect.

Good team worker

It is expected that you will be a good team player by being consistently reliable and provide a
consistent quality of work. It is expected that you will demonstrate commitment and loyalty to the

Engagement with other teams

As BDM you will work closely with a number of stakeholders within the business such as:

The Sales Director who sets the strategy, direction and focus as well as daily/weekly and
monthly responsibilities

The Branch Manager regarding local focus, local opportunities, day to day client requests,
enquiry returns/deadlines etc

In branch surveying and operations teams regarding joint meetings, pricing, delivery,
client requests etc (via the BM)

The CEC Team regarding expiring OJEU contracts or key focus clients

Operations Directors regarding regional or key local clients

The Bid team regarding references, information or case studies for tender submissions.

Admin Managers regarding enquiry book data/accuracy.

PA to the Chief Executive Officer regarding clients that require multi-site co-ordination,
collation of BDM reports, holiday requests etc.

The Marketing Team to share social media info and/or info for required
brochures/documents.
