Job summary
Health & Safety Advisor6 month contract, liekly to extend to 12 months then permanent.
First Base Employment are currently looking for an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join our large Manufacturing Client based in Gloucester. You will be required to undergo a security clearance process, so a British nationality is required.
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for creating, maintaining and improving safety in the workplace by ensuring that legislation is adhered to.
Duties:
* Assisting in the planning, implementing, monitoring and reviewing of the health & safety strategy.
* Formulating operational procedures that recognise hazards, seeking to minimise conflict between safety and production considerations.
* Assessing all risks and proposing workable solutions.
* To monitor, evaluate and review Health and Safety Policy and Practice, ensuring consistent implementation across the organisation, and to develop and implement new policy and procedure documents as required.
* To act as the main HSE point of contact and proactively promote the HSE agenda by developing and leading HSE campaigns to target key operational risks, providing general and issue specific HSE training as required, and effectively dealing with queries from internal colleagues, regulatory bodies and customers.
* To investigate or, where appropriate, to assist others to investigate the circumstances and causes of accidents and take necessary steps to prevent a recurrence, including keeping written records of the investigation and action taken.
* To coordinate the training of personnel in areas of safety, including first aid, CPR, accident prevention and investigation, work place inspections and other matters related to implementing safety procedures.
* Any other assignment / projects given by the Facilities Manager relevant to the job purpose as defined above.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills Required:
· NEBOSH diploma
· Significant HSE experience
· Working knowledge of ISO OHSAS 18001 & BSI ISO 14001 Management Systems
· Maintained knowledge of current and impending HS&E legislation and guidance and a solid working knowledge of risk assessment
· Flexibility open to improvements and change.
· Experience of working in a lower tier COMAH facility
