Job summary

My client is looking for an Applications Engineer to support the development of new, and the improvement of existing processes involving the vapor deposition polymerisation of parylene.

* Position: Applications Engineer

* Salary: £42,500 - £47,500

* Hours: 8 hour shift - Monday to Friday Bonus scheme

The ideal candidate for the role of Applications Engineer will be responsible for the following key duties;

* Investigating and implementing new technologies as well as variations of existing processes in order to meet the expectations of customer applications, and other goals of the business.

* This position is also responsible for the investigation and resolution of process anomalies, providing direct interface with key account customers, and providing input on ways to enhance/improve existing processes and procedures in conjunction with manufacturing and quality initiatives.

* This Engineer will evaluate and provide working solutions to new and unique customer coating applications as well as generate costing and process documentation. In addition, this Engineer will lead technicians and other necessary resources, and may have direct reports, to provide for collaboration and focus on successful process development.

Essential Skills & Responsibiltiies of the Applications Engineer:

Evaluates new customer applications and prescribes process requirements necessary to satisfy product specific parylene coating needs.

Provides advanced technical support in solving problems related to parylene processes and customer product introduction.

Provides technical support to Sales and Marketing resources to allow for successful customer product trials.

Manages costs and evaluates efficient and successful process methods, including automation and unique tooling where required.

Supports the needs of the business Operations teams with providing training and successful work instructions for use in managing parylene coating processes.

Evaluates new materials, improves yield and makes other cost reductions.

Conducts experiments to improve current state-of-the-art processes.

Maintains proper technical documentation of work.

Develops and maintains efficient processes and specifications.

Provides advanced technical support in solving problems related to processes and product introduction.

Recommends and/or develops process revisions, new processes and appropriate applications to process improvement.

Coordinates with manufacturing and equipment engineering to implement new and improved processes and equipment enhancements or new designs.

Works toward cost containment and improved yield on a continual basis.

Supports customer needs in coordination with the Sales Department.

Ideal Background for the position of Applications Engineer;

* Bachelors Degree in Engineering or other related area with 4+ years of experience in new product application development and/or process development in polymer coating technology.

* Parylene experience preferred with a minimum of 3 years of parylene engineering experience.
