Job summary
Overview of the role: Mechanical Design Engineer* These positions are open to either senior or Principal Engineers or Project Leaders, to be responsible for taking complete ownership and delivery of whole products and sub systems.
* At Principal level you will be leading a highly functioning mechanical engineering and design team on the design, development and integration of components into world class hydrogen and diesel systems - Structural systems, Noise management, exhaust system, fuel system & mounting and the integration of cooling systems, engine & after treatment
* Full technical project management and delivery responsibility; working with cross functional teams within design, analysis, test, build and procurement to final sign-off
* Driving and owning process & productivity improvement across systems - DFMEA, DVP & DVPSOR
About you: Mechanical Design Engineer
* This role is open to senior or principal level mechanical design engineers / module leaders / project engineers / leaders who want to take the next step or continue in their careers to lead teams and full engineering design and integration projects.
* You should have a strong technical, mechanical design engineering background working on either BIW, chassis, cooling, exhaust, diesel systems or canopy, enclosures, drivelines etc within the Automotive, Rail or Generator sectors.
* Strong knowledge of product development lifecycles and engineering processes owning and running DFMEAS, DVPs, DVPSORs etc
* Proven knowledge of high-volume manufacture, mass production and repeatability is important.
* An experienced leader with technical gravitas, you will have excellent communication skills and be able to manage internal and supplier relationships brilliantly.
* Pressure, tight deadlines and exacting standards are all a part of the job, so you are going to need to be the kind of person who relishes them.
* The flexibility to travel to other sites when necessary is also a must.
