Your future duties and responsibilities
You will be part of the End-User Computing Engineering Service and will support the technical team responsible for the design, development, scaling, documentation, building and validation of a virtual desktop solution for a secure client based in Corsham.

Your duties and responsibilities will include:
The design, development, reference building and validation of the clients virtual desktop solutions.
Supporting the scale out and ever greening of the VDI capability across multiple complex multitenancy use cases.
Assisting the design of a disaster recovery and business continuity capability from a virtual desktop and supporting services perspective.
Production and review of all levels of design artefacts.
Supporting wider system testing activities.
Working with Service Management to resolve issues.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
You will have had hands on experience of the design, development, documentation, building and validation of virtual desktop environments and you also have demonstrable experience working with:
VMWare Horizon
VMware AppVolumes
VMware UEM (or similar user environment management experience)
Windows 10 within a VDI environment including desktop optimization.

It also desirable that you have
Knowledge of the Atlassian toolset (JIRA and Confluence) to record and document work
Experience of delivering in Agile (SAFE4) and Waterfall projects.
Experience of large Virtualisation infrastructure environments that operate at scale.

It would also be great for you to have had experience of working within the public sector, preferably Defence, and ideally with Defence Digital (formerly ISS), delivering accredited secure solutions within the UK Public Sector.

Ideally, you will have had a Computer Science university-based education at Bachelors or Masters Level and will have obtained at least one of the following professional certifications within the last five years:
VMware VCP (Preferably VCP-DTM)
Microsoft MCSA Windows 10 or MCSA Windows Server 2012 (or higher)

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal are also important, as is strong critical thinking and analytical skills to solve problems and propose new ideas.
