**Summary of Job:**
This role requires a highly motivated and experienced individual with a proven track record in manufacturing and engineering procurement. The ideal candidate will have a success in procurement, strong negotiation skills, deep understanding of the manufacturing and engineering landscape and expected to drive rapid change within the supply chain processes.
**Duties and responsibilities:**
* Oversee the purchasing process, including issuing purchase orders, managing delivery schedules, and ensuring timely receipt of materials and services
* Understanding technical requisitions and interpreting engineering documents
* Identify and implement process improvements for the overall procurement key function relating to Engineering, Production and Finance.
* Managing and mentoring a team of purchasing professionals and providing coaching to develop their skills
* Manage vendor performance including supplier development to support KPI achievements
* Responsible for determining liability, disposition and corrective action to be taken on supplier non-conformance report (NCRs)
* Perform cost analysis in conjunction with budget costs and make improvement recommendations
* Strive to continuously build knowledge and skills about the products, processes and share expertise with the team.
* Effective written and verbal communication with internal departments on financial, commercial, technical and quality issues.
* Participate in cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with other departments (e.g., engineering, production and finance)
**Qualifications, Experience & Skills**
* Minimum of 5 GCSEs Grade 5 (equivalent grade C) including Maths & English
* Degree in supply chain management and/or CIPS desirable
* Minimum 8 years' experience in supply chain management
* Minimum 3 years' purchasing management experience
* Engineering technical knowledge desirable
* Knowledge of or proficiency in the use of Microsoft packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access) essential
* Proven track record of being accountable for procurement in a manufacturing environment
* Understanding and experience of the manufacturing lifecycle
* Experience of strategically liaising with stakeholders and implementing organisation goals

**Hours of work**
Office hours enable flexi-time working, covering a 37-hour week. Flexible start and finish times are available with core hours which must be covered each day. Monday to Thursday covers an 8-hour shift and Friday covers a 5-hour shift. Further details will be given at interview stage.
