Job summary
Senior Quantity Surveyor:An onsite Senior Quantity Surveyor is required for a company specialising in work for the, Civils, Petrochemical Renewable Energy and Rail industries.
With a variety of new work around the area ,they have numerous new sites across the region across Southampton and Bournemouth that will be live from May this year, so, the future looks bright.
They need an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with an appreciation of how it works on site and will be based in an on-site office, which inevitably will make communication much more efficient.
Duties:
Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates for civil engineering projects within the petrochemical industry, considering materials, labour, equipment, and other relevant factors.
Budget Management: Manage project budgets effectively, monitoring costs throughout the project lifecycle and identifying areas for cost-saving measures.
Tendering Process: Coordinate and manage the tendering process, including the preparation of tender documents, evaluation of bids, and negotiation with subcontractors and suppliers.
Contract Administration: Administer contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and resolving any disputes or discrepancies that arise.
Quantity Takeoff: Conduct accurate quantity takeoffs from engineering drawings and specifications to determine the materials and resources required for construction projects.
Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks and opportunities associated with project costs, providing recommendations to mitigate risks and maximise profitability.
Value Engineering: Implement value engineering principles to optimize project costs without compromising quality or performance, seeking innovative solutions to reduce expenses.
Cost Reporting: Prepare regular cost reports and forecasts for project stakeholders, highlighting variances from budgeted costs and providing explanations and recommendations as necessary.
Subcontractor Management: Oversee the procurement and management of subcontractors, including the negotiation of subcontract agreements, monitoring of subcontractor performance, and resolution of issues.
Claims Management: Evaluate and manage claims for additional payment or time extensions, preparing documentation and supporting evidence to substantiate claims and negotiate settlements.
Cost Control: Implement effective cost control measures to monitor project expenditures, track commitments and payments, and prevent cost overruns.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices, particularly regarding health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Client Relations: Maintain positive relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project teams, fostering open communication and addressing concerns or inquiries promptly and professionally.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and methodologies related to quantity surveying and construction management, and apply lessons learned to enhance project delivery processes and outcomes.
The right candidate must have experience of extensive civil engineering projects, ideally with petrochemical experience, though not essential.
You will also be a flexible, team player, who doesn't mind jumping in to help the team, so, big ego's and aggressive personalities wouldn't be suitable for this position.
The ideal level of experience would be an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor, looking to join a company with strong staff retention, who are growing within the area and with the real prospect of progression.
The process of interview will be an initial Teams call followed by a face-to-face meeting with the head of commercial, so, not a protracted process.
