About the service user
The service user is a 22 year old female, with the developmental age of around 8 years. She is able to communicate, but simplistic language is required.She is fully mobile, with no extra physical needs, is able to wash and toilet independently.She does not have a comprehension as to the value of numbers, which includes time and money which makes independent travel difficult, combined with a lack of awareness around her (crossing roads etc).She is able to follow basic instructions.She is a happy, polite and friendly young lady but suffers with anxiety when making new relationships. Once she has built up trust, she is very eager to please.She has a love of animals, has grown up in a busy household with other siblings, pets, and working parents.She is very kind and caring, and likes to do 'good things' such as litter picking and giving blood.

Hours and rate of Pay
5 hours per week 1hr each morning M-F 7am for 10 week period£11.00 per hour. Enhanced DBS clearance is required

What you would be doing

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday during term time assist her to get up and ready in the morning. Encourage and remind her to perform the required tasks shower, getting dressed, brushing teeth, having breakfast, making her packed lunch, packing her bag and being ready for the taxi to arrive around 0815hrs. Around 1 hr each day for this.Wednesday and Thursday work with her to develop every day living skills such as planning a recipe, what to buy, and where to buy it from, making sure she has enough money on her card, going and buying ingredients, making recipe.Maximising every experience to be that of learning such as money management & reading signs.Identify and facilitate other activities such as meeting friends, going for day drips, attending work experience (1000-1400hrs on Wednesday's in Brampton).Encourage to keep personal space tidy and contribute to chores around the house.Encourage her to get up and get ready in the morning, or before going out for a set time (bus/taxi or other things).Plus anything else identified as appropriate that will support the YP in their development, or enjoyment.

The person I would like
Someone who can think like a 22 year old, who is quick on their feet with regards to problem solving as the YP can refuse to do things she doesn't want to do, more often than not because she has some anxiety around it, but sometimes because she is also stubborn. But it is not acceptable to refuse. So persuasion and negotiation may be required.Somebody who has their own transport as the YP lives in a village with very limited public transport and both parents work. There may be occasion when they need to collect the YP to take them out, mileage will be paidA fun, positive and creative individual, who can get the best from the service user, and support her in her continued development into independence, and positive social contribution.
