Job summary
AWE is currently recruiting for multiple Trials Engineers of varying levels of experience to join an off-site trials team who are tasked with the design, setup and firing of explosives trials at locations throughout the UK.Are you a Trials Engineer with a keen interest in overseeing fast paced explosive trails? Are you willing to work alongside our experienced engineers and scientists to deliver current and future explosive capabilities? Would you like the opportunity to work in AWE's unique Environmental Trials Delivery Unit? Then we have the perfect role for you! We would like someone who has experience or a keen interest in working in challenging environments to deliver complex explosive trials.
Location: Reading (site based)
Package : £22,890-£50,000 (depending on experience)

The Role?
Key responsibilities and accountability's of a Trials Engineer:
The design, setup and fielding of energetic trials around the UK and potentially overseas.
The operation and maintenance of specialist diagnostic equipment including high voltage X-Ray systems.
Interfacing with stakeholders to identify trial requirements and generate safety documentation & processes for a trial to proceed.
Planning for future technologies and capabilities and how they will be implemented.
It would be desirable for you to have the following (not essential):
Experience working with and around explosives.
Experience with working in challenging environments (Poor weather, high winds, etc.)
Experience maintaining complex control systems.
Experience in communicating independently with internal and external stakeholders.
For a more senior role:
Familiarity with some or all of: energetic trials; sensors, diagnostics & measurement systems; x-ray systems; heavy plant operation; CAD; metal/woodworking.
To be willing to supervise and manage teams working in hazardous environments.
Experience supervising or directing teams working hazardous environments or carrying out hazardous duties.
You will need the following, to be considered:
ONC / NVQ level 3 in a STEM vocational qualification or considerable practical experience.
Proven experience of working in a multidisciplined team to deliver operational targets.
Willingness to work around explosive and radiological hazardous environments.
Willingness to travel away from home during the work week.
Full UK driving License.
