Job summary
The role of the Planning Manager is to create an effective forward plan for production, which achieves both efficient utilisation of capacity and management of stock to meet customer requirements.This Production Planning Manager will be focused on managing the team of Planners to strategically plan and tactically execute their customer order books to achieve >95% On Time Delivery, monthly sales, and past due targets.
Responsibilities
Management of the planning department including one direct report with responsibility for planning of production
Interpretation of customer requirements to develop a weekly production plan
Ensure that the plan is effectively delivered to budget & programme
Identify inefficiencies in the team and streamline the teams workloads
Effectively communicating projects planning & performance measures to a host of internal stakeholders
Balance inventory profile in line with company forecasts whilst maintaining customer service levels
Managing planning compliance
Establish effective tier meeting structure within department to be able to have an efficient flow of information and escalations from planner level up to Operations and Planning
Producing management reports as required
Produce timely & accurate progress updates
Communicating with both internal customers and external customers
Maintain accurate Master data
Builds and maintains strategic relationship with Production Management to identify and support implementing RCCAs for product missing On Time Delivery to customer
Implementation of Inventory management to meet both internal Inventory targets and safeguard customer On Time Delivery
Skills & Qualifications Required
Have experience in a similar or relevant role. preferably, in a fast-paced environment across a variety of disciplines
Friendly, approachable, inspiring and collaborative leader
Recent relevant experience in a planning role is essential
Experience of working in a fast paced changing environment
Be able to develop, survey & design programmes on agreed work including assisting site teams in preparation of detailed programmes
Experience in high volume manufacturing planning
Knowledge of ERP systems (knowledge of D365 ERP/MRP would be an advantage
Ability to liaise and communicate at all levels both within the business and customer facing
Excellent IT skills (intermediate to advanced Excel skills require
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience in managing a team, or possesses strong leadership skills
