Hours - 37.5 hours per week, some 24-hour cover shifts required

Salary - £28,470 per annum

Our client ensures that health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate high-quality care and they are looking for several vehicle technicians to join their team to ensure their vehicles are serviced, repaired and maintained to a high spec to enable them to provide this high level of service.

Responsibilities for Vehicle Technicians

* The post holder will take full responsibility for taking the initiative, and to make decisions on the maintenance and repair of several types of vehicles. Full training with be provided with an expectation to complete in line with Trust compliance standard

* Responsible for the servicing, repair and preventative maintenance of all vehicles, training and equipment will be provided.

* Will be required to work in rotation with other Mechanics: (during normal working hours or as an operational requirement).

* Undertake minor mechanical, electrical and bodywork repairs and undertake preventative maintenance on all vehicles.

* Undertake major/minor mechanical and electrical repairs at workshop sites.

* Participate in the provision of a 24-hour breakdown/recovery service necessitating call out from home on occasions at night/weekends.

* Conduct MOT inspections/repairs as required for MOT tests on company and customer vehicles.

* To conduct mechanical/welding repairs as and when required.

* Responsible for the safe working practices undertaken when dealing with motor vehicle air-conditioning systems.

* Responsible for full utilisation of the computerised diagnostic equipment available to specific vehicle applications, to assist in the diagnosing of vehicle faults and fault-finding process, training of which will be provided and wholeheartedly supported.

* To conduct repair and maintenance to special applications on vehicles.

* Servicing of cots/stretchers and carry chairs.

* Complete all necessary documentation, including job cards, service sheets and parts sheets and ensure all are submitted promptly

* To arrange vehicle servicing & MOT tests with various Ambulance stations and external customers

* Ordering/receiving of parts from external suppliers use of online mechanical ordering and understanding of vehicle service and repair manuals.

* Maintains security of stock and equipment used.

* Keep workshops and equipment clean and tidy, reporting any defective equipment.

* Account for all stores and equipment used employing booking out of parts onto job cards.

Skills and Experience

* Must have fleet maintenance experience of at least 1 year

* Preferably, the candidate will hold a certification for automotive repair/maintenance

* Experience in working to tight deadlines and managing/ prioritising tasks

* Experience working in a customer-focused environment

* Intermediate numeracy, literacy, and IT skills (i.e. handheld PDA)

* Excellent attention to detail

* Good understanding of basic vehicle maintenance, operations, and inspections

* Able to work effectively within a team environment

* Knowledge of service operations

* Able to liaise effectively with staff and managers at all levels, and with external organisations

* Able to work shifts including twilight hours, nights, and weekends

* Comfortable in working autonomously and self-manage
