Building Management Services Engineer (BMS Engineer)
The Company
Thatcher Associates are pleased to be working with an established construction company who have a brand-new opening for a BMS Support/ Senior Engineer. This role has become available due to considerable growth and are willing to offer career support and development to the to the chosen applicant.
The hiring business undertakes a broad range of innovative, negotiated projects valued between £4M and £40M. Most projects include large mechanical and electrical installations.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Technical Service Engineer who will be hybrid working from home and site providing service and commissioning support to internal teams. You will diagnose and troubleshoot software and hardware solutions and primarily with Trend and Tridium BMS Systems.
As Technical Service Engineers responsibilities include resolving network issues, configuring operating systems and using remote desktop connections to provide immediate support. You will use email and phone applications to give clients quick answers to simple controls issues. For more complex problems that require nuanced instruction, you will provide clear, written instructions and technical manuals where necessary.
The Technical Service Engineer will be working with the sub-contractors onsite to ensure the project stays on programme and the quality assurance is achieved at all times.
Key Responsibilities
* Research and identify solutions to software and hardware issues
* Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, including controls setup and network configuration
* Carrying out BMS PPM tasks
* Ask customers targeted questions to quickly understand the root of the problem
* Track controls system issues through to resolution, within agreed time limits
* Talk clients through a series of actions, either via phone, email, or face to face, until theyve solved a technical issue
* Properly escalate unresolved issues to appropriate internal teams (e.g., software engineers)
* Provide prompt and accurate feedback to customers
* Refer to internal database or external resources to provide accurate tech solutions
* Ensure all issues are properly logged
* Prioritize and manage several open issues at one time
* Follow up with clients to ensure their IT systems are fully functional after troubleshooting
* Prepare accurate and timely reports
* Document technical knowledge in the form of notes and manuals
Requirements
* Proven work experience as a service Engineer, Technician, or similar role
* Hands-on experience
* Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and other tech products
* Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic technical issues
* Familiarity with remote desktop applications
* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
* Ability to provide step-by-step technical help, both written and verbal
* Tridium AX & N4 Experience
* Trend Experience
* System Commissioning
* You should hold qualifications in a relevant field, such as Electrical Installation or Controls Software Engineering.
* Able to provide timely and accurate solutions to their technical problems. If you enjoy assisting people with technical issues and are able to explain technical details simply, this is the role for you.
