Lead Business Analyst

9 months - potential for extensions

Edinburgh (twice per week on-site)

Our client has been serving the households, businesses and communities of Britain for over 250 years. They offer a comprehensive range of financial products and services - including current accounts, savings, mortgages, loans and credit cards.

Over the last 5 years the Investment Change area within IS&E has established itself as a group of specialists who undertake all transaction and project based activity that is Investment driven.

The need for this area has evolved as Fund and Investment Change does not fit well into the standardised project approaches with generalist resources. We have established that specialist knowledge is more important to timelines and successful delivery of projects and that successful projects relies on the right combination of fund and investment SMEs.

Business Analyst - Responsible for the requirements analysis, process design and solution design for a medium sized product and/or project in order to realise customer value through excellence and execution. Include using Business Analysis skills to support the Product Owner or Project Manager to identify and understand the business need, analyse and prioritise the requirements, through to assessing, designing, testing and implementing agreed solutions. Coaching and developing others to achieve analysis excellence is also a key part of the role.

You will be joining Investments Change Team to deliver a project that will design and deliver
an Investments Database storing high value fund information that is essential for reporting.

Essential skills:

Database design to:

· Define the data fields we wish to gather and their attributes

· Define Data Owners and responsibilities within Investments for each data field as required

· Design data model to accommodate fund relationships and store data against the right entity level

General:

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Data oriented with good attention to detail.

· Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.

· Experience of building strong working relationships both internally and externally.

· Good written communication - for governance documentation, and proposing and influencing solutions.

· Influence others by demonstrating and encouraging LBG values and behaviour.

· Understanding of the requirements for project standards and documentation including timelines, status/risk/issue reporting and communication, exception reporting and artefact sign off.

Key Business Skills Required:

General understanding of Mutual Funds / L&P Funds
Knowledge of Fund Performance Analysis and Reporting
Experience of Fund Launch, Fund Changes, and Fund Closures
Experience of Asset / Fund transition
Product experience - Fixed Income, Equities, Derivatives (ETD / Cleared / OTC)
Knowledge of Fund Pricing, Accounting, and other operational processes an advantage
Relational Database Design

Other Skills/Qualifications Required:

Excellent stakeholder management and ability to engage stakeholders to ascertain requirements, and supply deliverables and solutions that meet those requirements.
Good written communication skills to produce specifications and reports as required.
Strong knowledge of Mutual Funds / L&P Funds and activities to undertake fund closures, fund launches, changes to fund charges, transferring assets, restructuring funds, changes to fund names, aims, objectives, risk profiles, mergers, share class conversions, suspensions and unsuspensions, and changes to fund managers.
Proven Strong analytical and problem-solving skill in complex environments
CFA / IMC qualification an advantage
