Position Overview:
As a Piping Designer, you will be responsible for creating detailed designs and layouts of piping systems for Ministry of defence sector. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with engineering teams to develop piping layouts, isometric drawings, and material specifications in a highly regulated industry.
Utilize design software, including HEVACOMP and Revit, to create accurate 3D models and piping schematics.
Interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and equipment specifications to ensure compliance with design requirements.
Conduct technical assessments and feasibility studies to optimize piping system performance and minimize risks.
Participate in design reviews, client meetings, and site visits to communicate progress, address technical challenges, and support project delivery.
Maintain accurate documentation, including piping specifications, bill of materials, and as-built drawings, to facilitate construction, installation, and commissioning activities.
Coordinate with procurement and construction teams to ensure materials and components meet design specifications and project schedules.
Provide support to senior designers and engineers, as needed, to meet project objectives and deadlines.
Requirements:
Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Design, or related field.
Proven experience in piping design and layout, preferably working with the ministry of defence
Proficiency in design software, such as HEVACOMP and Revit, with a strong understanding of 3D modeling and CAD techniques.
Familiarity with piping codes, standards, and regulations, including ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, and ANSI/ASME NQA-1.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Willingness to travel to Stockton-on-Tees 1 to 2 times per week and occasionally work from the main client office in Reading.
Candidates must undergo SQEP (Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person) checks prior to employment.
Experience in the nuclear industry is highly desirable, but candidates with closely related experience in complex engineering projects will be considered.
