Technical Support Engineer
Please note, you must either hold an SC security clearance or be willing to obtain an SC security clearance.
Location: Quedgeley, Gloucestershire
Salary: £30,000 - £44,000 per annum DOE

This role is fundamental to our clients operational capability. You will manage a variety of SNMP based network management systems whilst providing fault resolution methodology in an open environment. Applicants must be confident enough to go into the field without training and have experience with implementing Telecoms solutions and equipment. This role includes working with SNMP network management systems.

Our client delivers Telecoms solutions and hardware into highly regulated defence sites.

Key Responsibilities of a Technical Support Engineer

* Manage a variety of SNMP based network management systems that run on Linux, Solaris, and Windows servers.

* Maintain knowledge of modern telecommunication technologies.

* Conduct testing and produce test report.

* Contribute ideas and apply good fault resolution methodology in an open environment.

* Administer and run small turn key projects.

* Provide 24/7 support to customers on a week on 3 weeks off out of hours rota.

Key Skills of a Technical Support Engineer

* Knowledge of SNMP based network management systems.

* Understanding of Linux, Solaris, and Windows servers.

* Specialist knowledge in PDH/SDH.

* Familiar with a range of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, optical power meters & light sources, frequency counters, BERTs, cellular scanners and multimetres.

* Experienced in fault finding methodology.

* Educated to HNC level or above in a telecommunications field.

* Hold an SC or DV clearance or willing to undergo
