The Opportunity
In line with their commitment to sustainable growth, the Client offers an exceptional opportunity for an ECS Field Engineer to join their Engineering department.The ECS Team is responsible for designing, commissioning, and supporting control projects with a long-term presence, all within the context of Building Management Systems (BMS). Their focus is on optimizing efficiency and resilience in district heating, solar, and healthcare systems, demanding the development of specialized skills.
The Role
The ECS Field Engineer plays a pivotal role in commissioning Energy Control Systems on-site as part of the ECS Team. The key responsibilities entail:
Collaborating with Project Engineers to independently commission and configure PLC control systems on construction and renovation sites within the Building Management Systems context.
Developing expertise in PLC ladder logic software writing, testing, and revision through a combination of formal and ad-hoc learning.
Excelling in fault-finding and correction for new and existing installations, utilizing manufacturers' datasheets and electrical panel drawings within the Building Management Systems framework.
Integrating various plant equipment using hard-wired signals and communication protocols, primarily Modbus, pertinent to Building Management Systems.
Establishing network communications, including Fibre Optic connections, among all PLC controllers and the SCADA Supervisor PC
Ensuring safety protocols and RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statement) are meticulously followed at all times.
Completing weekly timesheets, mileage, and expense returns for precise cost allocation to contracts.
Communicating effectively through written reports, Teams meetings, and on-site meetings with the team and the wider company.
The Ideal Candidate
The Client is actively seeking individuals with a strong passion for pursuing a career in the sustainable energy market, particularly within the Building Management Systems context. Desired skills and education include:
A-Level qualifications with grades C and above, preferably in math, technology, or electronics.
GCSE qualifications with grades C and above in Math, English, Science, or a Technology subject.
Demonstrable experience in basic PLC or BMS installation or programming.
Basic understanding of electrical principles and/or electronics.
Proficiency in information technology.
Basic skills in using hand-tools in a workshop or site environment.
