Job summary
THIS ROLE IS LOCATED IN AMSTERDAM - EU NATIONALS ONLY***You need to hold A1 certificates or equivalent and be of EU Nationality with a valid passport and living in the EU permanently OR an EU National with a right to work in the UK or EUROPASS***
Contracts are 8 weeks on 8 weeks off / YOU ARE PAID ON YOUR 8 WEEKS OFF
To maintain the barge as directed by the Company and Bargemaster.
Working under the command of the Bargemaster to ensure that the barge is maintained for a safe operation.
Ensure all work is carried out with due regard to health and safety risks.
Report all accidents & incidents immediately to the Bargemaster.
Operations / Maintenance General
* Directly responsible for all work & operations performed on board the barge in accordance with standing orders and for the maintenance and safe operation of all equipment.
* Directly responsible for all work being carried out in accordance with the Integrated Management System, Planned Maintenance System, standing orders and good engineering practise.
* Ensure that cleanliness of machinery spaces is maintained at all times.
* Update the Planned Maintenance System when job orders have been completed and maintain spare part stock and future requirements.
* Supervise the Fitter / other crew and contractors working in the machinery spaces to ensure safe working conditions & practises.
* Responsible for overseeing the loading of fuel and lubrication oil and transferring to barge or shore-based facilities of used oil, sludge, and residual liquids.

Qualifications, certification, and experience
Required
STCW Reg A-III/2 (Second Engineer) Certificate of Competency. Valid Flag State Certificate of Competency.
Watch keeping Certificate of Competency.
Conversant in written and spoken English language. NB: Where English is not first language a valid Marlins certificate with a minimum 55% and TOSE Lower Intermediate level or shore-based equivalent.
Ability to work within and form part of a small tight team and to work Independently on own initiative when required.
Presentable with a pleasant personality.
Flexible in outlook and prepared to perform a variety of tasks under instruction & on own initiative.
Desirable
Strong background in engineering preferably working on engines above 250kw.
Valid ENG1 (medical fitness certificate) or accepted shore-based equivalent.
Vaccination if applicable for the location of the barge, including HEP A, B, C.
Basic Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting training.
Basic First Aid
Hold a current driving licence.
Whilst principally not a customer facing role, will on limited occasions have client interface contact. So must possess good people skills
