Job summary
Swift placements are excited to be working with a freight forwarding business based in Leeds who are seeking a detail-oriented and organised individual to join their team as a Freight Administration Specialist. The role involves managing and overseeing the administrative tasks related to freight transportation, ensuring the smooth flow of goods and materials from origin to destination. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a solid understanding of logistics and administrative processes.Responsibilities:
Documentation Management: Prepare and maintain accurate shipping documents, including billing, invoices, customs paperwork, and other relevant documentation.
Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams, carriers, and vendors to schedule shipments, track deliveries, and ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
Data Entry and Record-Keeping: Enter shipment data into the system, maintain databases, and keep detailed records of freight activities, costs, and timelines.
Problem Resolution: Address and resolve issues related to shipments, such as delays, damages, or discrepancies, by coordinating with carriers and other involved parties.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with local and international shipping regulations, customs requirements, and company policies.
Cost Management: Assist in monitoring freight costs, reviewing invoices, and verifying charges to ensure accuracy.
Communication: Maintain regular communication with stakeholders, providing updates on shipment statuses, delays, and any pertinent information.
In house training will be provided for the successful candidate.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience in freight administration, logistics, or a related field.
* Familiarity with shipping procedures, documentation, and regulations.
* Proficiency in using computer aided softwares, databases, and MS Office Suite.
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
* A Can do attitude and someone that is willing to learn.
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and prioritise tasks effectively.
Education:
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* Additional certification or coursework in logistics or supply chain management preferred.
The package:
Monday to Friday: 8:30am to 5pm with 1 hour lunch break
Salary: £23-25K Depending on experience!
20 days holidays per year.
