Job summary

Are you a Supply Chain and Purchasing Manager looking for a challenge? Are you driven by creating slick, effective and robust supply chains? Are you a natural problem solver who is confident in leading a strong purchasing team in a fast moving automotive supplier?

Kingscroft has been engaged to recruit a Supply Chain and Purchasing Manager for a specialist automotive manufacturing business. As the ideal candidate you will have experience of leading Purchasing in an international supply chain within an automotive focused business. You will be confident of delivering systems improvements and helping create an effective and reliable end to end supply chain whilst not being over reliant on the supply chain tech of the global giants.

The role is part of the evolution of this specialist business where significant progress has been already delivered; increasing and diversifying the customer base, improving the manufacturing systems, driving quality and creating an engaged and proactive environment. This role is vital in taking the next step forward.

As the Supply Chain and Purchasing Manager your duties will include:

In line with the business strategy, create the end-to-end supply chain vision that delivers exceptional operational and financial performance.

Develop sourcing and negotiation strategies that support business objectives, achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers and drive continual cost reduction efforts.

Source domestic and international suppliers for materials and products. Analyse and recommend suppliers based on cost, quality and delivery competitiveness. When applicable identify and develop secondary vendors to ensure continued supply in the case of interruption.

Work with internal stakeholders (operations, finance, sales/ marketing, engineering etc) to ensure total customer satisfaction. Proactively communicate and elevate potential interruptions of materials, product, or services due to supplier, quality or compliance issues that affect supply.

Direct the routine use of world-class procurement policies, procedures and technology on supplier development, risk management, cost reduction, and material compliance.

Stay current with laws/ regulations and ensure compliance with domestic and international trade requirements. Remain knowledgeable of customer compliance requirements to ensure suppliers are capable of passing quality and social responsibility audits.

Analyse sales and forecast requirements to ensure stable material supply to meet customer demand.

Continuously analyse existing purchasing processes, policies, and procedures for performance and propose improvements. Monitor ongoing compliance of existing policies and procedures.

Overall responsibility for accuracy and maintenance of materials and pricing data set within ERP system.

Responsible to direct inventory management functions such as slow-moving inventory,obsolete inventory, inventory turns, cycle counts and assist with periodic physical inventory process.

Track suppliers performance indicators, based on their scorecard rankings, to facilitate and develop the supply bases ability to consistently meet or exceed our defined expectations.

Develop department goals and drive performance improvement with metrics that support purchasing responsibilities. Lead and mentor buyers in professional development ensuring a highly functional team with consideration towards succession planning.

Travel required (including international).
