We are actively seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with a profound understanding of high and low voltage electrical systems, up to 33kV. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for independently designing electrical systems, managing third-party contractors, and ensuring the successful delivery of technical solutions that meet customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop comprehensive designs for high and low voltage electrical systems, including HV/MV network design, earthing and protection calculations.
Generate technical drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, and cable schedules using AutoCAD.
Adhere to Health and Safety, Quality, and Environmental management systems.
Scrutinise project requirements and specifications to ensure designs align with applicable standards and regulations.
Compile final documentation, including As-Built Drawings.
Thoroughly interpret design specifications and technical drawings.
Conduct research to identify optimal solutions for electrical system designs.
Foster effective communication with third-party contractors and directly employed subcontractors to oversee project design and delivery.
Collaborate closely with construction and commissioning teams to facilitate seamless project implementation.
Skills, Experience, and Education
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related field.
In-depth knowledge of BS7671 18th edition wiring regulations.
Strong technical and analytical skills to provide support during project implementation.
Proficiency in AutoCAD for creating comprehensive electrical drawings.
Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Minimum of five years of experience analysing end-user electrical load requirements and designing suitable systems including HV and LV distribution networks.
Familiarity with electrical safety regulations and industry best practices.
Knowledge of relevant DNOs codes of practice and industry standards.
Understanding of CDM Regulations related to the Designer's role.
Ability to calculate, validate, and negotiate asset values for HV and LV electrical assets.
Ideally, be a member of the IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology).
Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant design tools.Top of Form
