Job summary
Our client are looking for a Production Shift Supervisor to join their teamColchester, up to £45k DOE
The successful candidate must hold a full UK driving license with access to their own vehicle.
The Role
Responsible for the safe operation of production lines on day shift this role is a hands-on role as well as supervisory.
A strong leader, able to work under limited supervision reporting to the Production Manager. The primary purpose is to plan, organise and effectively utilise company resources to achieve company KPI's enabling business growth and profitability
You must ensure that all company standards, targets and objectives are achieved with regards to safety, quality, productivity, on time delivery, staff morale and environmental safeguards. The successful candidate may also be required to understudy the Production Manager from time to time.
To be considered for this role you must be an excellent communicator with the ability to develop strong relationships with senior management and peers to create a 'one team, one goal' culture.
Responsibilities
Direct and support shift team or operatives to achieve all KPI's
Adhere to daily workplace safety inspection of each production process
Ensure correct PPE is worn by operatives
Adhere to safe working practises
Encourage the reporting of near misses
Oversee accident investigations when required
Take ownership of QHSE action points
Evaluate data provided by others relating to product quality and waste; identify and implement corrective action to achieve quality KPI's and waste reduction targets
Communicate quality issues, initiatives and praise to operators and process teams
Ensure that production operatives maintain internal testing and recording requirements for BSI and other regulatory bodies
Follow maintenance management systems and monitor performance
Monitor and maintain daily start-up procedures ensuring daily tasks are completed on time and records updated
Work with team to complete machinery set up procedures and daily housekeeping and use the company app to report any machine issues
Assist the maintenance team in rectifying machinery breakdowns either directly or through allocation of resources on an adhoc basis
Report damages to machinery and other company assets and assist in corrective action
Conduct daily team briefings with process teams clearly communicating team KPI performance and providing an opportunity for team feedback and collaboration
Gather all relevant information so that the Shift Production Manager can conduct regular appraisals - assist with reviews when required
Work closely with the training manager and production manager to identify skills development paths for operators; organising and implementing operator training by process
Review productivity reports, analyse processes and identify process improvements with the process teams to achieve productivity targets
Employ 5S methodologies to maintain clean, tidy and well organised work areas
Assist in Interviewing potential new employees when vacancies arise
Collect staff holiday requests and work with supervisory management to plan holiday absence prior to authorisation
Complete weekly time and attendance records and conduct return to work interviews when required
Requirements
Production Supervisory or equivalent experience of up to 30 staff
Ability to motivate, delegate and lead their team to deliver continuous improvement
Able to plan and organise work across multiple machines and processes to deliver company KPI's
Experienced in planning and organising their own time and that of their teams.
Effective communicator both orally and in writing
A flexible approach with a "can do" attitude
Be flexible to work outside of shifts when needed and weekends if required
