Job summary
Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their forward thinking and progressive organisation.As the Champion of Manufacturing Engineering and Continuous Improvements (CI), you will be responsible for driving projects and developments to increase effectiveness and increased operating margins through the research, planning and implementation of improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Optimisation: and Continuous Improvement
* Develop and implement strategies for optimizing production efficiency and reducing production costs.
* Introduce lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and streamline workflows.
* Design and implement production processes for new products, considering quality, cost, and time-to-market.
* Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall manufacturing performance.
* Collaborate with product design and development teams to ensure manufacturability of new products.
Design Quotations Co-ordination
* Collaborate with the sales team and distributors to understand customer needs and technical requirements for products or services.
* Prepare technical quotations based on customer requirements and specifications.
* Collaborate with internal teams, such as engineering, procurement, and manufacturing, to gather necessary information for accurate and competitive quotations.
* Build and maintain positive relationships with customers by providing responsive and knowledgeable support during the quotation process.
* Act as a technical liaison between customers and internal teams.
Quality Assurance:
* Work closely with the quality control team to establish and maintain high-quality standards.
Equipment and Technology Management:
* Evaluate and select appropriate manufacturing equipment and technologies.
* Oversee the installation, calibration, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Cost Analysis and Budgeting:
* Conduct cost analyses to identify areas for cost reduction without compromising product quality.
* Collaborate with finance and management teams to develop and manage manufacturing budgets.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
* Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, design, supply chain, and quality assurance, to achieve overall business objectives.
* Communicate effectively with stakeholders to address issues and implement improvements.
Documentation and Reporting:
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of manufacturing processes, procedures, and changes.
* Generate regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and communicate manufacturing performance.
Health and Safety Compliance:
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the manufacturing environment.
* Support the implementation and promote a culture of safety awareness and adherence to best practices.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
* Proven experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in a relevant industry.
* Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
* Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
* Working knowledge of CAD software
* Familiarity with quality management systems and standards.
