Job summary
Qualified Practitioner Psychologist (maternity cover)We are seeking a qualified HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist for a 12 month, fixed term (maternity cover) position commencing in January/February 2024.
The post holder will be based in our well-established 39 bed female forensic service, which encompasses medium and low secure care. There will be opportunity to utilise a variety of therapeutic approaches to aid rehabilitation for women whom have complex needs and require help to manage their internal processes in a safer way.
The successful candidate will be welcomed into a friendly and supportive team of qualified, 'in training' and Assistant Psychologists, each of whom work within a variety of different Psychological frameworks and modalities.
This role will be suitable for a Practitioner Psychologist who is at least 2 years post qualification with experience of supervising others, and working with forensic clients. It is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their experience of overseeing and leading a well-established service, as well as someone already working at a more senior level, who is wanting to work in a challenging a rewarding environment.
Salary banding £44-65k depending upon experience. We would welcome applicants with a variety of experience, whom are at different stages in their Psychological career. This is an on-site position, and full time hours (37.5 per week) are preferable, although those seeking part-time hours or some flexible working arrangement will be considered.
Your responsibilities will include:
Holding a caseload of clinical work, including carrying out individual and group psychological assessment and intervention and developing formulations.
Offering specialist clinical advice including the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care within the service.
Attending relevant meetings to contribute to clinical care and service user progressions, including liaison with external professionals (including commissioners and CMHTs) as part of the MDT / CPA process.
Taking a lead in collaborative risk assessment and management for individual patients, supporting input from other members of the MDT.
Facilitating reflective practice sessions for ward teams, and debrief sessions where required.
Supervising more junior members of the department, including Psychologists in Training and Assistant Psychologists.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:
HCPC Registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
BPS Chartership, or eligibility for Chartership
To be least two years post-qualification with experience of supervising others is essential, in addition to conferring eligibility for registration on RAPPS (Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors)
Experience working with forensic clients, supervision of others, consultation, and leadership skills.
Competency in assessment and therapeutic intervention (multi-modal) and structured professional judgement risk assessments.
Training and experience in DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) is desirable
