Chichester College have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Relief Milker/ General Farm Worker at our Chichester campus. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return, we will offer a competitive salary of £22,079 per annum plus £3,000 overtime payment per annum (paid in monthly instalments)

The Relief Milker/ General Farm Worker role:

A General Farm Worker is required to work within our friendly, social farm team, working with staff and students on our busy College Farm. Your work will be predominantly livestock husbandry based with specific requirements to relief milk (as part of a consistent two-week rota), but will also include field and estate work and basic machinery operation.

At the College there are regular opportunities for CPD alongside industry qualifications - Telehandler, ATV, Ai, brush cutter etc.

Brinsbury Farm operates for 52 weeks per year. You will be expected to work at times unsociable hours, weekends, and bank holidays.

Key Responsibilities of our Relief Milker/ General Farm Worker:

Undertake milking and relief milking, herd health tasks, spotting and assist with issues as and when they arise.

To facilitate daily activities within the learning environment, including the preparation of teaching resources and housekeeping.

To provide assistance to individuals or groups of students within the learning environment.

To implement and maintain the regulations of the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health legislation, including the reviews of health and safety policies and procedures in the workplace and undertake risk assessments.

To participate in curriculum area, College, employer/parent functions, meetings and promotional activities as required.

Participate in course review activities and the generation and implementation of new resources and action plans.

Monitor and maintain equipment and prepare replacement plans.

Order and stock take materials and equipment.

Clean and maintain working spaces, develop a working environment and provide technical support and assistance for projects.

Distribution and collection of tools as required on a daily basis.

Our ideal Relief Milker/ General Farm Worker should have the below skills and experience:

Relevant industrial/subject experience

Working knowledge of the relevant vocational area

Time management skills, organisational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines

Full UK driving licence
