We are currently seeking innovative and forward-thinking Project Quantity Surveyor to join our team and be part of an exciting journey that rewards both you and our valued clients.
About the Role:
As a Project Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in our organization by providing commercial and contractual administration for our projects. Your responsibilities will include identifying opportunities that offer the best value to our clients, maximizing profitability, and mitigating commercial risks. Working primarily on-site as part of the site management teams, you will ensure that contract objectives and margins are met. You will report to the Area Commercial Manager and may oversee one to two assistant quantity surveyors as direct reports. Our projects involve fast-moving, production-driven utility streetworks, requiring dedicated and adaptable professionals to effectively manage them. Responsibilities:
* Conduct measurement and valuation of the works (typically BoQ / Schedule of Rates)
* Prepare interim applications for payment
* Prepare and settle final accounts
* Procure sub-contracts, ensuring best value for money
* Manage sub-contract valuations and final accounts
* Administer Early Warning Notice (EWN) and Compensation Event (CE) procedures to manage risk and secure entitlements
* Prepare and agree on quotations for Compensation Events (CEs)
* Collaborate with the delivery team and planners to measure delays and secure extensions of time
* Work with the Project Manager/Contract Manager to control and manage costs within budget and maximize profitability through Earned Value analysis
* Provide commercial reporting, including CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation), Cost to Complete, and Cashflow
* Manage and mentor Assistant Quantity Surveyors on a day-to-day basis
What We're Looking For:
At Lanes Infrastructure, we believe that attitude and potential are more important than experience. We are seeking someone who is:
* Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying (BSc)
* Alternative qualifications such as HND, HNC, BEng, or construction/business-related degrees will be considered
* Current CSCS Card holder (desirable)
* Professional certifications such as MRICS/MCIOB/MCICES (desirable)
* Minimum of 3-5 years of post-graduate experience, preferably as a site-based Quantity Surveyor on the contractor/subcontractor side
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Proficiency in IT, particularly with Microsoft Office packages including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
* Working experience with NEC3/4 forms of contract
